Model of the Month: Kaet Lane
Why modeling?
It's funny that modeling is so focused on the outward appearance because I personally enjoy it for how it makes me feel on the inside. The best pictures are the shots that capture the raw emotions of the model. I love getting to have my inner thoughts and feelings become a piece of art.
What inspires you?
I think my faith inspires me. I believe that God created us with the ability to see the beauty in everything. When I am feeling down or feel like I need some creativity in my life, I look to him. I believe he is the master creator of everything. This makes him the best source for my personal inspiration.
What products can you not live without?
I can't live without my tinted moisturizer, my bronzer and my lip balm. I think a glowing moisturized face looks youthful and feels good.
What is your personal style?
My personal style is relaxed and comfortable. I am a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl. I love getting glamorous for shoots but I leave that kind of styling to the professionals.
What is your favorite song?
"Your Song" by Elton John is my favorite song. It's a beautiful love song and I'm a sucker for romance!
Photographer of the Month: Alexandre Paskanoi
Why photography?
Photography is my passion.
Who is your favorite photographer of all time?
Terry Richardson.
What do you look for when selecting a model to work with?
Personality, individuality and their charisma.
What kind of camera/equipment do you use?
I use a Nikon and Elinchrom, Profoto in studio.
What is your favorite project you have worked on?
Shooting Rihanna in Paris.
Makeup Artist of the Month: Katie Holtz Artistry
Why makeup artist?
It has always been a passion of mine. I remember watching my mom go from beautiful to even more beautiful with such confidence and ease. We traveled the world growing up and when I lived overseas my interests in beauty and fashion evolved. Getting involved with makeup has been an outlet for my love of art and my canvas is the face. I love how sexy makeup can make a woman feel.
What products can you not live without?
My Shu Uemura lash curler and my Laura Mercier Eye Brow Pencil.
What was your favorite project you have worked on?
I worked on an editorial shoot at the Iowa State Fair. We had the model stand with a cow and it turned out really beautiful!
What inspires you?
My child inspires me. She makes me find my inner child and see things in such a different way. There is so much honesty and beauty. Her world is so colorful...it's fascinating!
What do you look for when working with a model?
I don't really have a certain type. I'm able to work with an actual agency and with everyday people. I am able to see the beauty in everyone. I just help people enhance the beauty they already have.
Hair Stylist of the Month: Shelby George Smith
Shelby George Smith is a freelance event and salon stylist and makeup artist, specializing in highlighting and dimensional color, curly textures, layered haircuts and bridal styling. Wardrobe Stylist of the Month: DSR Wardrobe (Lala Marie)
What inspires you?
Architecture and the ability to one day inspire someone else because I want to show people you can make your dreams come true.
What is your favorite store you like to shop from?
Goodwill in fashion neighborhood.
What is your personal style?
I love black, big bags, tights and boots. If you've ever seen me, you would never think I'm a stylist - I'm so easy to dress.
Describe your genre of work.
I don' think I have one - a true stylist adapts to any style or genre but my favorite would have to be editorial.
What is your most embarrassing moment professionally?
I was styling an early morning shoot and really just threw on the first thing I saw. I picked these hunter green tights and paired them with combat boots. I'm short and in every behind the scenes photo, I looked like a chubby elf!
